Different Engine types in SAP HANA Architecture

In SAP HANA system, there are three basic engines used to processes queries in SAP HANA. Following engines are used −

  • Join Engine
  • OLAP Engine
  • Calculation Engine
  • Join Engine

Used when querying an Attribute View in SAP HANA

  • OLAP Engine

Analytic Views (without derived columns) use the OLAP Engine

  • Calculation Engine

Calculation Views or Analytic Views with derived columns use this engine
